 While the 2009 annual meeting was moved to Lake Tahoe, for those of you who made arrangements to attend the previously announced state bar meeting planned for Kauai, Hawaii (and anyone else on Kauai at that time) the State Bar of Nevada is pleased to announce an afternoon of CLE and hospitality.

Increasingly, lawyer civility is becoming an oxymoron, much like jumbo shrimp, military intelligence, and happily married. Yet, it doesn't have to be that way. Civil litigation need not lead to all-out civil war. As legal professionals, lawyers have an obligation to act just that way --professionally.

Let veteran attorney and humorist Sean Carter remind your attorneys that zealous advocacy does not require them to be zealots. It's possible to be courteous, kind, accommodating andeffective. In fact, for the continued well-being of the profession (and the individual practitioner), it's necessary.

Roundtable discussion to follow, including discussion of suggestions to increase lawyer civility and courtesy in Nevada. Following the presentation, participants are invited to enjoy complementary island cocktails and pu pus.
