Professor Erwin Chemerinsky - Constituional Law
Erwin Chemerinsky is the founding dean and distinguished professor of law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, with a joint appointment in Political Science. His areas of expertise are constitutional law, federal practice, civil rights and civil liberties, and appellate litigation. He is the author of seven books, most recently, The Conservative Assault on the Constitution (October 2010, Simon& Schuster), and nearly 200 articles in top law reviews. He frequently argues cases before the nation’s highest courts, and also serves as a commentator on legal issues for national and local media.
Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto
Catherine Cortez Masto began serving her first term as Nevada’s Attorney General in 2007 after winning more votes than any other statewide candidate. Known for her integrity and leadership, General Masto has committed her time in office to protecting and advocating on behalf of the people and communities in Nevada.
Laurence Leamer - "The Price of Justice"
The Price of Justice is the story of the fifteen year struggle of two Pittsburgh lawyers for justice in a relentless legal struggle against Don Blankenship, the CEO of Massey Energy.  It is about the American justice system and its best and at its worse.  As described in his new book, The Price of Justice: A True Story of Greed and Corruption, Larry Leamer will focus on what lawyers can learn from a struggle that reached from the backwoods courtrooms of coal country to the United States Supreme Court.
James W. Jones - "What Got Us Here, Won't Get Us There: Implications of a Changing Market for U.S. Law Firms"
Mr. Jones will review the current state of the U.S. legal market, focusing on the economic performance of law firms of all sizes.  He will describe how the current economic downturn in the market (now in its sixth year) has combined with other macro forces to change the nature of competition in fundamental ways and to require lawyers and law firms to rethink how they plan, organize, and price the services they deliver.  Among other topics, Mr. Jones will explore how market changes in recent years have impacted the makeup of law firms, altered client expectations and behaviors, and opened opportunities for a wide range of new (often non-traditional) competitors.  Finally, he will assess the significant future implications of these changes for lawyers and law firms across the country.
