State Bar Overview
The members
and staff of the State Bar of Nevada strive to make sure the law works for
everyone by doing the following:
-
Ensuring Nevada residents have access to the justice system. To do
this, the State Bar offers a
Lawyer Referral and Information Service. Known as LRIS, the program
guides people through the often-complicated legal process and assists them
in finding the appropriate attorney for their needs. The State Bar also
publishes an extensive
pamphlet series (in English and Spanish) on a variety of legal topics,
from estate planning to divorce, so people may learn about their legal
rights.
-
Ensuring the public is provided with only the best and most knowledgeable
legal assistance. The State Bar offers
Continuing Legal Education
(CLE) courses for all those practicing law in Nevada, in a wide range of
areas, to keep lawyers up to date.
-
Informing its members of the latest legal news and information, and
providing them with a forum in which ideas may be exchanged. To do
this, the State Bar publishes
Nevada Lawyer,
a monthly magazine, and maintains this website.
-
Promoting the collegiality and professionalism of its members. The
State Bar sponsors an Annual Meeting and various seminars, training
sessions and informal get-togethers. It also facilitates the organization
of its members into various "sections" and "divisions," allowing attorneys
interested in common fields to share useful information.
-
Encouraging and overseeing a variety of pro bono or public service
activities through its Access to Justice Committee and its cooperative
relationship in the community with local pro bono organizations.
The State Bar
works for everyone - the community at large and its members.
The State Bar of
Nevada works for YOU.
