Honorable Amy B. Karan, Eleventh Judicial District, Miami, FL: Judge Karan has been the administrative judge of the Domestic Violence Court in Miami, Florida since 1994.  She previously practiced law for nine years specializing in family law and civil litigation. Judge Karan also serves as an adjunct professor of Evidence, Criminal Law and Family Law at St. Thomas University and has been on the faculty of the National Judicial College for ten years.

 

Honorable David Gersten, Third District Court of Appeal, Miami, FL: Judge Gersten is the Chief Judge of the Third District Court of Appeal, where he has served as an appellate judge since 1989. From 1982 until 1989 he served as a circuit judge and from 1980 to 1982 he served as county judge in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Judge Gersten also teaches Trial Advocacy and Legal Thought at St. Thomas University School fo Law, where he also coaches the mock trial team. He received his J.D. from the University of Florida in 1975.
