Three Teams Win the Regional Mock Trial Competition
Three Las Vegas high schools have earned slots at the state Mock Trial competition. Bishop Gorman, Faith Lutheran and Advanced Technologies Academy were the top-scoring teams at the southern regional competition, which took place on Saturday, January 14 at the Regional Justice Center. More than 100 students from seven schools competed against each other as defense and prosecution teams in mock trials based on a case where a pregnant teenager was charged with the vehicular manslaughter of her unborn child.
The state competition will take place March 9 and 10 at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas. Nevada's winning school will go on to compete in the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Mock Trial judges and coaches are always needed.
