Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education Moving

U.S. District Court Seeks Lawyer Reps

 

The United States District Court for the District of Nevada is accepting applications for lawyer representatives. Lawyer representatives are selected for a three-year term with the terms corresponding with the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference. Representatives selected this year would attend the conference in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

 

If you are interested in serving as a lawyer representative, please submit a letter of interest detailing your federal experience and reasons you would like to be considered to Lance S. Wilson, District Court Executive. The deadline for expressing interest is June 20, 2008. For an address and more information see the flyer from the U.S. District Court.

Annual Meeting Deals for First-Time Attendees

 

If you’ve never attended a State Bar of Nevada annual meeting, this is the year to make the trip. First-time registrants will be able to take advantage of the special discounted rate of $449 ($100 less than standard registration). The tuition covers all of the offered CLE programs (12 hours of CLE credit available), three receptions, one luncheon, the annual banquet and three breakfasts.

 

This year’s annual meeting takes place in lovely Santa Barbara, California, June 18 - 21. At right, see visitors to Santa Barbara take in some local entertainment.

Apply to Join the ABA House of Delegates

 

The State Bar of Nevada is looking to appoint a member to the ABA House of Delegates. The House of Delegates establishes ABA policy. This two-year appointment is responsible for attendance at ABA policy meetings and reporting to the State Bar Board of Governors (including written reports at the mid-year and annual meetings). The application deadline is June 5, 2008. For more detailed information see the application and appointment information sheet.

 

To apply for any position you must download and complete a committee appointment application from the State Bar of Nevada website.

Las Vegas National Bar Association Hosting Health Fair

 

On May 31, 2008, the Las Vegas chapter of the National Bar Association will host the Kids Fitness Olympics: Health and Safety Fair, at 100 Academy for Excellence in North Las Vegas. This program is designed as an intervention for people of color and all children on learning to live a healthier lifestyle.
