Representative Needed – Indigent Defense Selection Committee

The State Bar of Nevada Board of Governors is seeking to appoint a State Bar member to the Clark County Indigent Defense Selection and Appointed Committee for a one-year appointment, through July 2009. Clark County’s Office of Appointed Counsel (OAC) is looking to expand this newly appointed committee formed to assist with the selection of qualified attorneys for the assignment of private defense attorneys to appointed criminal cases.

The committee selects qualified candidates to fill available appointment positions annually, as well as the top candidates to fill juvenile delinquency appointments. In reviewing candidate applications, committee members solicit input from judges and others familiar with the practice of criminal defense, review any complaints from clients and the training history of each attorney receiving appointments to determine eligibility and continuing participation.

For more information and to see requirements, visit the State Bar's Committee Vacancies page. If you would like to be considered for appointment by the State Bar Board of Governors to the Indigent Defense Selection and Appointed Committee, please forward the committee appointment application to Gale Skala at gales@nvbar.org.

The committee will meet at least annually as well as mid-cycle should vacancies occur.

For more information, view the court's administrative plan. If you would like to be considered for appointment by the State Bar Board of Governors to this committee, please forward the committee appointment application to Gale Skala at gales@nvbar.org.
