Eighth Judicial District Court to Utilize Convention Center for Socially Distanced Bench Trial

On Wednesday, July 8, 2020, the Eighth Judicial District Court issued Administrative Order 20-18, allowing the court to utilize off-site facilities in order to comply with the social distancing requirements of Administrative Order 20-17 while accommodating an upcoming large bench trial. The trial, titled In Re D.O.T. Litigation, is expected to exceed 50 participants on a daily basis. Meeting rooms in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center have been designated as a temporary court building for this bench trial.

According to the court’s blog, “The trial is scheduled for the case to address disputes surrounding recreational marijuana dispensary licensing and is expected to involve a number of parties and their lawyers. Safety protocols, including masks and social distancing, will be observed to protect against transmission of the coronavirus.”
