Opportunities to be Heard: Supreme Court Hearings and Comment Requests

Recently, the Nevada Supreme Court issued three ADKTs announcing opportunities for Nevada attorneys and members of the public to offer feedback on proposed rule changes and recent court reports. These opportunities include:

  • Aug. 29, 2018; re: ADKT 0507: The Nevada Supreme Court has extended the time period for submitting written public comments regarding ADKT 507. Additional written public comments may be submitted to the clerk of the court in electronic or hard-copy format by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3. The court held a public hearing regarding the commission to study the creation and administration of guardianships in Nevada on July 18.
  • Sept. 7/Sept. 20, 2018; re: ADKT 0499: The Nevada Supreme Court has scheduled a public hearing and is requesting public comment regarding proposed changes to amend Nevada Supreme Court Rules 207-215, to establish identical fee compliance deadlines for the State Bar of Nevada and the NVBCLE, and amend regulations of the NVBCLE. The hearing will take place on Thurs. Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. in the Supreme Court Courtroom in Carson City, and will be videoconferenced to Las Vegas. Written public comments may be submitted to the clerk of the court by 5 p.m. on Fri. Sept. 7. (Please note that this hearing has been rescheduled. It was originally set for Sept. 5.)
  • Aug. 30/Sept. 6, 2018; re: ADKT 0501: The Nevada Supreme Court has scheduled a public hearing and is requesting public comment regarding a request to amend Nevada Rule of Appellate Procedure (NRAP) 17 to include cases originating in business court being retained by the Nevada Supreme Court. The hearing will take place on Thurs. Sept. 6 at noon in the Supreme Court Courtroom in Carson City, and will be videoconferenced to Las Vegas. Written public comments may be submitted to the clerk of the court by 5 p.m. on Thurs. Aug. 30.
